WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Louis senior guard Gibson Jimerson was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 6-12, the league announced today.
Jimerson scored a game-high 28 points, including a season-high-tying six 3-pointers, as the Billikens knocked off St. Bonaventure last Wednesday to stay undefeated in league play. His 9-of-15 shooting night included 6-of-11 from 3-point range. During the game, he surpassed Jimmy Baron’s A-10 record for 3s made in a career.
For the season, Jimerson leads the A-10 in scoring (18.8 ppg) and 3-pointers made per game (3.44).
It is the first time in Jimerson’s storied career that he has earned Player of the Week honors. He was twice named A-10 Rookie of the Week during his freshman campaign.
Jimerson and the first-place Billikens head to Richmond, Va., to take on the VCU Rams tomorrow night at the Siegel Center. Game time is 6 p.m. (CT).
