Tytan Anderson of UNI has been selected the State Farm MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient, and he highlights a list of 15 student-athletes honored as part of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete Teams, announced today by the league office.  Voting was conducted by league’s sports information directors.

Anderson holds a 3.84 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a degree in business administration.  Earlier this season, Anderson became the fifth MVC player in the last 50 years to record 1,200 points, 750 rebounds, 200 assists, and 145 steals in a career.  Anderson is joined on the first-team unit by Johnny Kinziger of Illinois State; Tyler Lundblade of Belmont; Mitch Mascari of Drake; and Filip Skobalj of UIC.

The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America nominations.  To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in 75% of the institution’s games played. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically AND athletically. If a transfer student-athlete (undergraduate or graduate) is in his first semester at his new institution, the cumulative undergraduate GPA and cumulative graduate GPA (if grad GPA is applicable) from his former institution must meet the 3.50 cumulative GPA. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher both as an undergrad and in grad school.
