Guard Ishan Sharma (first name pronounced EE-shon) announced he will transfer to Saint Louis University to continue his basketball career. The incoming sophomore has three years of eligibility beginning in 2025-26.
“Ishan is someone who checks every box for us in terms of high processing, elite skill level and great positional size,” SLU head coach Josh Schertz said. “He’s a no-agenda player, which along with his size, allows him to make great decisions with the ball. On top of that he’s an exceptional competitor, teammate and worker, exactly the kind of traits we want in this program.”
Sharma played last season at the University of Virginia, where he appeared in 29 games, including one start, for the Cavaliers.
He was a 33.3 percent shooter from the field (30-90) and a 33.3 percent shooter from 3-point range (24-72). Sharma also converted 15-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Sharma went 4-of-7 from 3-point range en route to a career-best 12 points against Bethune-Cookman. He scored six points in his first-career start at Stanford on Jan. 11. He followed that with a 10-point effort against SMU.
A native of Milton, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, Sharma prepped at Fort Erie International Academy from 2021-24. He was named to the Nike EYBL Peach Jam All-Breakout Team after shooting 45 percent from 3-point range in 2023. Sharma also played for Canada’s U16 and U17 national teams during his youth.
