Avila Named Top 10 Candidate for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Saint Louis junior center Robbie Avila is one of 10 candidates for the 2025 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
The annual Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, named after the Class of 1995 Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion, celebrates its 11th year by honoring the top centers in NCAA Division I men’s college basketball.
Avila averages 16.6 ppg and 6.6 rpg entering the Billikens’ game Feb. 7 at Saint Joseph’s. He leads all centers in NCAA Division I in assists per game (4.2) and 3-pointers made per game (1.6).
Last season at Indiana State, Avila averaged 17.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from the arc. He led all NCAA Division I centers in assists a season ago.
