Nine Saint Louis University Billikens earned postseason Atlantic 10 Conference men’s soccer honors, the league announced today.
Jeremi Abonnel repeats as the A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year and landed on the first team in addition to the All-Academic team. Drake Fournier, Abdoul Karim Pare, Quinten Blair and Carlos Leatherman all earned a spot on the second team.
The Billikens placed a league-high three players on the All-Rookie team – Jack DiMaria, Theo Franca and Nick Schramm.
Finally, SLU head coach Kevin Kalish was named the A-10’s Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.
Abonnel, who has played every minute in goal, is tied for the league lead with nine shutouts and is second in the A-10 with a 0.65 goals against average.
Fournier and Pare were named second-team midfielders. Pare is second on the team with three goals, including the game-winning tally against George Washington. Fournier has scored twice, with a game-winning goal coming in the victory over VCU.
Blair and Leatherman are All-Conference second-team defenders. They have helped anchor a back line that yielded just five goals and turned in four shutouts in conference play.
Franca leads the Billikens in goals with four, and he is tied for the A-10 lead with three game-winning goals. DiMaria and Schramm have played significant minutes in the midfield in their rookie seasons. Schramm has two goals, while DiMaria has recorded an assist this season.
The Billikens went 5-0-3 in Atlantic 10 play to clinch the A-10 regular-season title. SLU hosts Davidson at Hermann Stadium on Wednesday night in a semifinal matchup in the A-10 Men’s Soccer Championship.
