No. 15 SMU scored four times in a 20-minute second-half span to post a 4-0 victory over the fourth-ranked Billikens on Monday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens (1-1-0) and Mustangs (2-0-0) played to a scoreless halftime tie before SMU took control after the break in front of a crowd of 1,233. SMU dominated the match overall, holding a 19-5 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks while putting five shots on goal to SLU’s one.

Mukisa Emmanuel opened the scoring in the 51st minute, converting a through ball from Landon Hickam. Emmanuel struck again less than four minutes later, converting a penalty kick in the 54th minute to make it 2-0.

The Billikens were reduced to 10 men in the 62nd minute when Carlos Leatherman received a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Milton Lopez then added two more goals for SMU. He scored in the 66th minute on an assist from Jaylinn Mitchell and found the net again in the 69th minute, with Mitchell providing the second assist.

Alander Soares registered the Billikens’ only shot on target, forcing a save from SMU goalkeeper Jonathan Evans in the 41st minute.
