The focus track of Bric-a-Brac attack, ‘Grindavik’, serves as a captivating introduction to the album, immediately establishing the warm, reflective atmosphere that unfolds across the record. Bright, shimmering acoustic guitars open the track as Plain Mister Smith nostalgically reflects on a return to the Icelandic  town of Grindavík, an epicentre of recent volcanic activity. Grindavik weaves vivid storytelling with a palpable sense of longing. The song’s effortlessly groovy, unsyncopated drum rhythms provide a steady foundation for its constantly evolving chord progression, creating a soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive. Beautifully complementing the composition are the stellar guest performances from Jordan Klassen and Kitt, contributions add further depth and emotional weight to the track. ‘Grindavik’ is sure to ensnare fans of The Beatles, RadioHead and Elliot Smith.

Plain Mister Smith shared, “The recent volcanic eruptions in Grindavik show the earth in distress, and are an analogy for a relationship in distress. In the same way I hoped the fissures in the earth would meld and heal, I also hoped the fissure in the relationship would heal.”
