JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Jailbirds sign sophomore, Cy Darnell, local infielder to play this summer.

Darnell is a Webb City alum continuing his baseball career in Joplin.

Darnell is currently competing in his second season at MSSU. His career at MSSU so far has led to a .294 AVG, 7 HR, and 56 RBI. This season, Darnell has built a 46 PO and .956 FLD%. He continues to be a competitive player during this MSSU season.

“We’re really excited to have Cy with us this summer,” says Jailbirds Field Manager, Octavio Sanchez. “He (Darnell) will be an anchor for us up the middle at shortstop, offensively, he’s the kind of guy who can hurt you in a lot of ways with his speed and power. He will be a great addition to the team.”

The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd. To order home opener tickets, visit https://www.simpletix.com/e/joplin-jailbirds-vs-st-joseph-mustangs-06-tickets-254126.
