JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Jailbirds have signed infielder Landin Midgett, bringing the talented college standout to the roster and reuniting him with his brother, Jace Midgett.

Landin Midgett began his collegiate career at Coffeyville Community College, where he played in 86 games and posted an impressive .335/.441/.512 slash line. He collected 85 hits, scored 70 runs, drove in 53 RBIs, and hit eight home runs during his time there. He is currently in his first season at Pittsburgh State University, where he is batting .328 with 42 RBIs and five home runs.

“We’re really excited to add Landin to the roster,” said Jailbirds Field Manager Octivio Sanchez. “He brings power and consistency to the lineup while also having the ability to move all over the diamond defensively. The fact that his brother is on the team adds a special dynamic and strengthens the sense of family within our program. At this level, it’s rare to have the opportunity to share the field with a family member, so we’re excited to have both of them wearing the Jailbird name across their chest.”

The Joplin Jailbirds will open their season on the road in Kirksville on Thursday, May 29. Their home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, against the St. Joseph Mustangs at Joplin’s home field.

Tickets for the home opener are now on sale and can be purchased at https://www.simpletix.com/e/joplin-jailbirds-vs-st-joseph-mustangs-06-tickets-254126.
