Noelle Scaggs and Michael Fitzpatrick on stage performing

Fitz and The Tantrums’ frontwoman Noelle Scaggs’ tattoo on her forearm reads “La vie mérite d’être vécue.” It’s French for life is worth living. And it’s meaningful to her and to Fitz and The Tantrums fans. Because that’s just how their music makes you feel, like life is worth it. Whenever their music comes on, its life-affirming sound has you up on your feet, dancing around and feeling good.

And that’s what this most recent Fitz and The Tantrums Man On The Moon Tour brought to The Factory in St. Louis. A quick aside here, as frontman Michael Fitzpatrick wasn’t sure whether or not to give a shout-out to St. Louis or to Chesterfield because of where the venue is located: Yes, it’s okay to say you’re in St. Louis as Chesterfield is part of St. Louis County. Yes, we know it’s confusing.

Nearing the end of their 36-city tour to celebrate the July release of their sixth studio album, Man on the Moon, this neo-soul, indie-pop group performed on a simple stage and relied on lush lighting to help set the jubilant mood. The L.A.-based band, expertly mixed in several new songs such as the slick “Man on the Moon,” the infectious, poppy “Umbrella,” and the energetic, catchy “Young Days” from Man on the Moon, which has received widespread praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, and others.

The multi-generational fans in attendance were also treated to fan-favorites such as “Good Intentions,” “I Just Wanna Shine,” and “HandClap.”

Redding, CA band, Gable Price and Friends, self-describe as an alt-rock ensemble, who emerged onto the music scene in 2018, opened the night. Their 45-minute set kicked off with the passionate “50 MG,” ripping and roaring with the refrain, “maybe I’ll be just fine,” and resonating with the growing crowd. Several songs from their set came off their 2024 EP Jungle In The City, including the peppy, raw, emotional “Jungle In The City,” as well as “Mountains and Mundane.”

Both bands delivered stellar performances full of life, bringing joy and merriment on a Tuesday night to hardcore fans, and solidifying that yes, life is a treasure, and to remember to live it to the fullest.
