Mayday Parade band on stage far away

Not one but three bands opened on Mayday Parade’s Three Cheers for 20 Years Tour on the fifth night of their 33-city tour at The Pageant on Monday.

The sold-out St. Louis venue saw adoring fans filtering in during the first two acts before finally packing all the way in for the main attraction, Mayday Parade. Early in their 100-minute set, lead vocalist Derek Sanders told the crowd, “This is the biggest headline tour we’ve ever done. For the first of many times tonight I’m going to say thank you for your love and support.” Fans swooned, sang along, and cheered their hearts out as the Tallahassee alt/emo/pop-punk band performed career-spanning fan favorites including “Oh Well, Oh Well” and “Miserable at Best,” deep cuts such as “Bruised and Scarred,” and new material, “Pretty Good To Feel Something.”

Bay Area Like Roses opened the night with a fresh, emo-forward sound. With only 20 minutes on stage, the female-led band blasted with catchy hooks and vocals and included their newest single, the power-rock “Stuck.”

Philadelphia’s Grayscale performed a 30-minute set of their pop-punk/alt-rock, grunge-tinged sound. They began with powerful, emotion-filled “The Hart” from their January 2025 album of the same name and ended too quickly with the fast-paced, vibrant “Not Afraid to Die.”

Flanked by blow-up mushrooms, Woodstock, Georgia’s Microwave brought 40 minutes of their wide-ranging blend of psych/post-hardcore rock to the now full room. Songs included “Lighterless” and the catchy “Something Right,” to the oft dreamy “Circling the Drain.”

A full Monday night helped kick the week off in pure joy for all the paraders who attended.
