A night of core memories was made for a very young audience at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on Tuesday October 2nd. Meghan Trainor brought her Timeless tour through STL for her 16th show of her 2024 extravaganza. Her big brother, Ryan Trainor, and tik toks very own, Paul Russel being the opening acts.
Ryan Trainor is probably the sweetest older brother a girl can ask for. He took the role of opening hypeman, and ran with it (literally). Ryan was so crowd friendly, left the stage for fan interactions and selfies, every single time he took the stage. His energy was bigger than the entire venue, and everyone matched this same energy. This absolutely set the atmosphere for the duration of the evening. His wild dancing, and attitude was such a fun and chaotic pre show, and Meghan should be proud to have him as a supporting act.
The next burst of energy came with Paul Russel taking the stage. I wasn’t super familiar with him at first, but his affirmative attitude and infectious smile quickly stole the show. He was great interacting with the crowd and asked places to see before they left town. “Ameristar” a fan screamed and explained it was a casino- I found this to be hilarious considering where we were and what was right next door. The show continued with sing alongs and SO MUCH DANCING. the closing song is what sent this crowd to another level. Paul’s song that put him on the map,” Lil Boo Thang”, started and the decibels of screams almost took out my ear drums. I then realized who this amazing human was and had the best time dancing to a song I knew word for word because of its use on tik tok. Side note: I was not the demographic for this show, but really why does there have to be an age limit for fans?
Meghan, it’s been eight years, get on this stage! I was so anxious and excited for Meghan to take this stage, and so was every single little girl in this venue! It was such a family event and so amazing to see all of the moms and dads with their little girls ready for the event of their lives. Everyone around me was covered in glitter, bling, and all the shiny things. The signs were so much fun, and this crowd was absolutely entertaining in itself. There was a fan protect that would come together later to create a moment thanks to super fan,NOAH. The love for Meghan was real. I believe it’s this way because her documented life on the socials have given us a relationship with her shared life online. We love her husband,Daryl. We love her boys, Riley and Barry. We all feel like she’s our bestie. Meghan is a marketing queen, an amazing wife, and MOTHER. She. Is. Mother. I saw the signs, it’s true.
Throughout the concert, Trainor’s entourage of six female backup dancers successfully maintained a lively atmosphere. These women can dance and certainly represented as body positive role models for anyone and everyone attending. The thoughtful curation of Trainors setlist, alternating between lesser-known songs and slower tracks, allowed her to optimize audience engagement. This strategic sequencing enabled her to command the crowd’s full attention during performances of popular favorites like “Lips are Movin,” “Dear Future Husband,” and “All About That Bass.” There were so many moments where the crowd was louder singing Meghan. STL CAME OUT TO LIVE THEIR BEST LIVES WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL SOUL.
Trainor’s performance reached new heights with “Made You Look,” as blue and white confetti cascaded down like magic, infusing the crowd with excitement. “Saint Louis I Love You,” Trainor said. This extraordinary experience will forever be etched in my memory along with everyone else in this crowd. You are our Mother, and we thank you for coming to our wonderful city and creating an unforgettable evening.
Melissa O’Rourke aka WickedWitchofSTL is a jack of all trades. By day she’s an established tattooist and piercer, by night a mother to her amazing son (who is a hell of a guitarist). Melissa has a musical background and can often be found at a local karaoke joint, or a concert when she’s not driving across the country for an adventure. This social butterfly always welcomes conversation so come say hi! See y’all at the next gig!
