Nashville rock and roll collective Sour Ops return with their new full-length album, Bikers Make Better Lovers. Led by musician, architect, and photographer Price Harrison, the band continues to carve out a distinct space rooted in guitar-driven minimalism, pulling from proto-punk grit and hook-heavy power pop.

On Bikers Make Better Lovers, Sour Ops deliver a record that doubles as both a stripped-down homage to rock and roll and a sly meditation on American identity. The album’s title—lifted from a faded, half-forgotten bumper sticker—sets the tone: provocative, absurd, and oddly revealing the longer you sit with it.

Across ten tracks, the band balances sharp songwriting with a raw, riff-forward approach. From the relentless charge of opener “Opting Out,” a defiant rejection of modern social noise, to the biting commentary of “Made of Lies,” the album navigates themes of disconnection, identity, and illusion without sacrificing immediacy or punch. Elsewhere, songs like “Gym Bro” and “All That Matters Now” explore character-driven narratives and emotional fallout with equal parts wit and weight.

Joining Harrison are longtime collaborators Tony Frost (bass) and Steve Ebe (drums), with additional contributions from acclaimed pedal steel player Paul Niehaus (Lambchop, Yo La Tengo) and vocalist Amanda Broadway, whose arrangements add depth and contrast to the album’s lean core.

Produced by Harrison and mixed by Melissa Mattey, Bikers Make Better Lovers captures Sour Ops at their most focused—refining their sound both sonically and conceptually while staying true to the raw energy that defines them.

With a reputation for blending the melodic sensibilities of power pop with the punch of classic rock and punk, Sour Ops continue to prove that Nashville’s underground extends far beyond its country roots.
