Acclaimed Latin vocalist, percussionist, and songwriter Anthony Almonte returns with his new single “Rompecorazones,” out April 17 via Wicked Cool Records. The track serves as the latest preview of his debut full-length Conversando Con La Luna, arriving May 15—a richly layered project that blends the rhythmic traditions of salsa with contemporary pop and rock influences.

Featuring Cuban trumpet virtuoso and vocalist Alexander Abreu, “Rompecorazones” channels the emotional intensity at the heart of Conversando Con La Luna, pairing dynamic arrangements with Almonte’s expressive vocal delivery. The track highlights both the album’s deep roots in Latin music and its forward-looking creative scope.
“Rompecorazones, which literally means heartbreaker, begins with a beautiful, unfolding melody that tells the story of a love powerful enough to transform you, inspiring you to rise as the best version of yourself in hopes of winning her heart,” shares Almonte. “The song then erupts into an explosive burst of salsa energy, and there was no one better than the multi-talented Alexander Abreu to help me deliver that level of excitement with such depth and sensibility.”
The release follows Almonte’s recent single “Imagínate Conmigo,” featuring Venezuelan vocalist Ronald Borjas, which introduced listeners to the album’s vibrant sonic palette and thematic depth.

Conversando Con La Luna is a richly textured and deeply personal collection that explores Almonte’s Latin roots while embracing a wide musical palette. Anchored in salsa yet infused with elements of rock and pop, the album highlights his range as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer. At its core, the record reflects on the full spectrum of love—from exhilaration to vulnerability—and the fear of becoming “too in love.”
Conceptually, the album traces a journey of personal transformation, following a protagonist shedding an older version of himself while stepping into the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Throughout, Almonte pairs introspective storytelling with the rhythmic language of salsa, creating a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Recorded alongside a collective of young, highly skilled musicians, the project captures a fresh, modern energy. Central to the album’s sound is co-producer and pianist Jonathan Montes, whose arrangements help shape its lush musical landscape.
The album features an impressive lineup of collaborators spanning multiple generations of Latin and rock music, including Stevie Van Zandt on “Caminando,” Alexander Abreu on “Rompecorazones,” Ronald Borjas on “Imagínate Conmigo,” and legendary pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba on “Como Dejar De Quererte.” Additional appearances include salsa icon Gilberto Santa Rosa alongside celebrated musicians Marc Quiñones, Charlie Giordano, Jeremy Bosch, and Carlos Henriquez.

Born in New York City in 1992, Almonte developed a passion for music at an early age after discovering the rhythms of bomba and plena during family trips to Puerto Rico. He began formal training at age six and went on to study with mentors Angel Ruben Rodriguez, Little Johnny Rivero, and Charlie Lagond. By age ten, he was already performing live in New York, building a reputation for his rare ability to sing and play percussion simultaneously—a skill that fuels his commanding stage presence.
Beyond his solo work, Almonte has built an extensive résumé as a touring and session musician. He is currently touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and previously spent several years on the road with Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. His recording credits include work with Little Johnny Rivero, Edwin Bonilla, Carlos Henriquez, and Real Women Have Curves: The Musical, among many others.
Almonte’s career has already placed him onstage with an extraordinary range of artists, including Paul McCartney, Jackson Browne, Karol G, Fito Páez, Richie Sambora, and Sam Moore, while collaborating with notable acts such as Kid Creole and The Coconuts, Eddie Palmieri, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. A two-time Grammy nominee, Almonte appears in Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (2024), a documentary chronicling the band’s most recent tour. He has also been featured in Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple (2024), as well as Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles (2018).
