In Episode 4 of Chad Powers, the Hulu football comedy starring Glen Powell as the titular disguised quarterback, the South Georgia Catfish are on the road to Knoxville for a high-stakes away game against Tennessee. Picking up from the chaotic victory over Ole Miss in Episode 3—where Russ Holliday (Powell), undercover as the mustachioed Chad Powers, finally got his shot at QB after Danny “accidentally” sidelined starter Gerry—the episode dives into logistical nightmares, buddy-comedy hijinks, and simmering team tensions during the bus ride and pre-game chaos.

The action kicks off on the team bus, where Coach Dobbs lays down strict curfew rules: everyone in their hotel rooms by 11 p.m., or no playtime the next day. Miscommunications fly fast—Jake grills Chad about his bromance with Danny (cue a hilariously off-kilter The Blind Side rant from Chad), while a crude chat about “spreading cheeks” leaves everyone cringing. But the real panic hits when Danny discovers the prosthetic glue for Chad’s disguise has hardened solid, thanks to a faulty cap. With stores closed and no time to waste, Danny begs Russ to call his dad Mike for a hookup, but Russ shuts it down with a 2 Fast 2 Furious quip, opting instead for a late-night raid on a Spirit Halloween store. They swipe Sasha’s (the smug jock who loves tormenting Chad) jeep keys and bolt—only to find the “A-Hole Quarterback” costume mocking Russ’s real-life rep, a gut-punch reminder of why he’s in hiding.

Things escalate into full farce at the store: Russ distracts a chatty customer mid-prosthetic audition (deep dad-talk diversion), letting Danny snatch the last glue bottle. But karma bites back—the jeep’s been ransacked, Chad’s entire makeup kit and Danny’s AirPods stolen. A chase ensues through Knoxville’s sketchier streets, with the robbed customer hot on their tail. Russ slices his throwing hand on shattered glass in a panic, they arm themselves with a glovebox gun (bad idea), and track the thieves via AirPods. In a dumpster-diving frenzy, they recover most of the prosthetics but ditch the buds to evade a neighborhood ruckus after Russ accidentally fires a shot. Bleeding and bickering, they hit a packed ER—Danny obsesses over his AirPods while Russ fumes, smashing the stolen glue in a rage. Russ MacGyvers a fix by raiding the supply closet for medical adhesive, bandaging up just as the clock ticks toward curfew.

Back at the hotel, it’s a nail-biter: Ricky’s on bed-check duty, and Russ—sans disguise—bumps into her in the lobby. Heart pounding, he plays it cool, dishing unsolicited advice on her frosty vibe with Jake and bonding over football slumps. She clocks him as “Russ” (phew), but the close call lingers. Russ hustles up the stairs, late as hell, only for Danny to save the day by donning the Chad wig in the shadows and fooling Ricky with a muffled grunt. The bros reconcile with a heartfelt “adopted brothers” fist-bump, glue the prosthetics back on, and crash—setting up the big game.

On the field, Chad shines again, rallying the Catfish to a gritty win over Tennessee in a thriller. Post-victory hugs abound: Ricky and Jake bury the hatchet with an emotional embrace, forgiving their blowup from the Ole Miss game. Tricia’s frustration eases as the team’s momentum builds, but cracks in the facade emerge on the ride home. Ricky, ever the sharp analyst, scrolls an article on Russ Holliday’s vanishing act and pieces together the hotel overlap. She’s smitten with Chad’s grit but spots inconsistencies—why does his playstyle echo a QB who hasn’t suited up in eight years? Does she blow the whistle, or ride the secret to more W’s? The episode closes on that juicy cliffhanger, with Russ’s double life teetering as the disguise holds (barely) for another week.

A rollicking mix of heist vibes, heartfelt bro moments, and gridiron glory, “4th Quarter” cranks up the stakes while nailing the show’s underdog charm.
