Netflix has ordered a 10 episode season of ‘That ’90s Show’, a spinoff of the hit ‘That ’70s Show.
Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) Forman are set to reprise their roles. In the new series, set in 1995, Leia Forman (daughter of Eric and Donna) will be visiting her grandparents for the summer with a new generation of kids in Point Place, Wisconsin.
The original series creators (Bonnie and Terry Turner, and their daughter Lindsey) are onboard as writers and executive producers. Smith and Rupp will also be executive producers as well as starring in the show.
That ’80s Show was an attempted spinoff back in 2002. It followed Eric Forman’s first cousin Corey Howard (It’s Always Sunny’s Glenn Howerton), but it felt like too much, too soon, for the franchise and ultimately failed.
There isn’t word yet on if any other ‘That 70’s Show’ stars will make appearances on the new show, but Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, and Wilmer Valderrama joined Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson on another Netflix show, ‘The Ranch.’
