McDonald’s is set to shake up its burger lineup with the introduction of the Big Arch, a hefty new addition that’s being billed as the chain’s biggest and “most McDonald’s” burger yet. Launching nationwide in the U.S. on March 3, 2026, for a limited time, this premium sandwich arrives after strong success in international markets like the UK, Canada, France, and others, where it has become a top seller in some locations.

The Big Arch builds on classic McDonald’s flavors while cranking up the size and indulgence. At its core are two quarter-pound 100% beef patties (weighing about 4 oz each before cooking, with no fillers or extenders, simply seasoned with salt and black pepper). These are layered with three slices of melty white cheddar cheese (a step up from the standard processed cheese on many menu items), providing extra gooey richness.

What sets it apart texturally are the onions—both crispy fried onions for crunch and slivered raw onions for that sharp bite—along with shredded lettuce, zesty pickle slices, all stacked on a toasted sesame and poppy seed bun that’s larger and more distinctive than the classic sesame seed variety.

The real star, though, is the new Big Arch Sauce: a tangy, creamy blend featuring mustard, pickle, and sweet tomato notes, balanced for that signature McDonald’s taste with a fresh twist. It’s reminiscent of Big Mac sauce but dialed up with more zing, and fans are already raving about dipping fries in extra sauce or slathering it on generously.

McDonald’s has positioned the Big Arch as part of its ongoing push for premium, craveable options under initiatives like “Best Burgers Ever,” which includes tweaks to cooking methods and ingredients for juicier results. After piloting the burger about a year and a half ago, it gained traction globally—becoming France’s top-selling burger post-launch and earning permanent spots in places like the UK and Ireland.
