A tour full of Warped Tour vibes, the Idobi Radio Summer School tour showcases the up and comers of the music scene. With bands Rain City Drive, Charlotte Sands, Beauty School Dropout, If Not Me, Huddy, and Arrows in Action all performing sets leading up to Taylor Acorn. Meanwhile, Acron made her first appearance on stage as a surprise by joining Arrows in Action for their final song “Uncomfortable Numb”, which features her and is the top listened to song on both bands Spotifiy profiles. She was welcomed with pop from the crowd and brought the intensity/excitement level up leading up to her set later in the night.
Not even a year ago, Acorn’s “Survival In Motion” LP was released followed by the deluxe version of the album coming out just a few months ago. Quite arguably one of the best albums of 2024 managed to get even better with the bonus track of “Hell Of A Show”, to which the set kicked off with. The slow acoustic start fastly kicked into the emotionally charged, high-energy music that she brings while also working each side of the stage. The show also brought even more new music with the addition of her new single “Goodbye, Good Riddance” released Friday, July 11th, plus her collaboration with Said The Sky called “Reminisce” which brings a different style compared to the alternative rock genre but fits in the set perfectly.
With Acorn coming out as a surprise guest at the beginning of the night with Arrows in Action, she decided to do the same by bringing out her own guest, Charlotte Sands performing “Final Nail”, which she is featured on the bonus track of the deluxe album. The one thing that was noticeable early into the set was Arcorn can work the crowd and keep the energy going constantly. Between the hair flips, dancing, and interaction with her guitarist RickyJab, it is clear as day that she loves what she does for a living and can truly dominate a stage with her presence from start to finish. The night would come to a close with the songs that started off her career, “Shapeshifting” off her 2021 EP “Stay Emo” followed by “Psycho” from her debut album “Certified Depressant”.
The Idobi Radio Summer School tour truly provides not only the opportunity to see your favorite band but also to discover so many new artists. Something of which has been lacking since the Van Warped Tour stopped their full cross country tour in 2018. It was clear by the end of the night that many of these bands had gained new fans as merchandise lines continued to be busy as people began to leave and truly giving each person in the crowd a great Sunday night leading into the work week.
