Five Billikens scored in double figures as Saint Louis used a big second half to pull away from Rockhurst, 86-65, Friday night in a men’s basketball exhibition game at Chaifetz Arena.
Freshman Amari McCottry scored all of his game-high 16 points in the second half, finishing 5-of-7 from the field.
Junior Kalu Anya had a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures for the Billikens were Isaiah Swope and Gibson Jimerson, who finished with 14 points apiece. Kobe Johnson chipped in with 11 points.
Rockhurst led by eight at one point in the first half and took a three-point lead, 33-30, into halftime.
But the Billikens broke out in the second half, shooting 64.3 percent from the field in the second session to take control. A 13-0 run midway through the half built the Billiken lead to 20 and they never looked back.
All available Billikens saw playing time, including walk-on Nick Patton who came on late and knocked in five quick points. SLU was without Robbie Avila, Josiah Dotzler and Dylan Warlick due to injury.
The Billikens return to action next Friday, when they host Maryville in exhibition play at Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is 7 p.m.
