Saint Louis has their first of two home games this week on Wednesday night as they take on the visiting Seattle Sounders FC 2 for the first time in franchise history. Â The USL affiliate of the MLS Seattle Sounders are looking to turn their season around after having a rough start, recording three wins, four draws, and nine losses in the first half of their 2016 campaign.
Saint Louis looks to continue its undefeated streak at home alive; their last home match was a 1-0 victory over Portland Timbers 2 on June 25th. Â The team is also looking to bounce back from a loss against Kansas City last Saturday night that included an early goal in a match that featured a weather delay of 90 minutes. Â Saint Louis FC could not find the back of the net with the eventual final score being 1-0.
Seattle is coming to Worldwide Technology Soccer Park on the heels of a loss to Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday night by a score of 1-0. Â The team is currently on a two game losing streak, and with a road record of (1-4-1) they definitely face a tough challenge coming to St. Louis.
STLFC remains in sixth place in the Western Conference, but more importantly they remain in a playoff position heading into Wednesday with a (6-6-4) record and 22 points. Â Seattle currently sits in 14th place in the West, with a record of (3-9-4) and 13 points. Â Seattle is led by Andy Craven, who has recorded three goals and also tallied an assist this year for a total of seven points, while St. Louis continues to be led by Irvin Herrera, who has nine goals, two assists, and 20 points throughout the season thus far.
This has the recipe to be an explosive night for St. Louis, not only with the possibility to continue to assert their dominance at home, but the fans attending the upcoming game will be treated with a fireworks display following the game. Â It is sure to be a night you don’t want to miss.
