WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Louis utilized a big second half to post a 70-63 win over George Washington Thursday in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Championship at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
The Billikens, who improve to 17-15 with the win, advance to face third-seeded Davidson tomorrow (Friday, March 9) at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on NBCSN.
Saint Louis trailed 32-21 at halftime, but outscored the Colonials 49-31 in the second half to record the comeback victory.
Jalen Johnson finished with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from the arc. He was 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range in the second half.
Hasahn French posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He hit all four of his shots from the field.
Also scoring in double figures was Javon Bess (16 points) and Davell Roby (15 points).
In the second half, the Billikens shot a sizzling 66.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from the stripe. Bess pumped in 13 of his 16 points in the second frame alone.
