Saint Louis women’s basketball NLI signee Ciaja Harbison (Louisville, Ky./Male H.S.) will receive the fourth annual Donna L.J. Murphy Award at the 2018 Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball Awards Ceremony March 13 in Lexington.

Harbison was one of 22 nominees from across Kentucky for the prestigious athletic/academic award, which honors a standout female senior basketball player who exemplifies the meaning of being a great student-athlete.

A 5-foot-6 guard, Harbison has played varsity basketball for five years on a team that won five consecutive District 26 championships and reached the 2015 KHSAA state tournament semifinals. She is an honor roll student who also enjoys art, is a member of the Latin Club and participates in several service projects.

“Preparation is important for future success; it’s the tool that helps an athlete stay focused on and off the court,” Harbison said. “I plan to pursue a career in nuclear science technology, therefore it is imperative that I be prepared both mentally and physically for the medical field.”

A highly decorated student-athlete who was the first Miss Kentucky Basketball, Donna L.J. Murphy selects the recipient of the award named in her honor.
