Lindsay Friedman drove in three runs with a record-setting home run and a double, but St. Bonaventure registered a come-from-behind, 6-5 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Saint Louis Sunday.
Friedman led off the game with a homer that gave her sole possession of the Billikens’ career record (19). It was her ninth long ball of the year, a SLU season mark.
Saint Louis (18-14, 5-2 A-10) added a second run in the opening frame. Alex Nickel followed Friedman’s blast with a single, went to third on an error and scored on Elizabeth Everingham’s sacrifice fly.
The Bills made it 5-0 in the fourth. Mackenzie Peter led off with a single and advanced to third on a fly ball and Katie Kroeger’s single. After Kroeger stole second, Friedman delivered a two-run double, and Nickel drove home Friedman with a single.
However, St. Bonaventure (4-20, 1-2 A-10) struck for five runs in its half of the fourth, with Ashley Snider’s grand slam the big blow. The Bonnies won it in the bottom of the seventh on Emily Belfield’s one-out RBI single.
Peter added a single to join Friedman and Nickel as Billikens with two hits. Kelsey Biggs and Brianna Lore had a single apiece. Lore (14-8), who struck out five and allowed nine hits, five earned runs and one walk, absorbed the loss in the circle.
