The St. Louis Gateway Gold continued building their roster for the 2027 Professional Softball League season by signing outfielder/first baseman Ashley Trierweiler, a left-handed hitter with a decorated college résumé and professional experience that includes time with the Florida Breeze.
Trierweiler, a 5-foot-11 native of Belmont, California, arrives in St. Louis after competing for the Breeze in the PSL as a first baseman and outfielder. Prior to that, she spent two seasons with the New York Rise in the Association of Fastpitch Professionals following her college career. Her professional path follows a college track marked by high averages, consistent production, and positional versatility.
At Santa Clara University, Trierweiler primarily patrolled center field. In 2023, she finished second nationally among Division I players with a .486 batting average and third with a .584 on-base percentage. She led the West Coast Conference in both categories, along with runs (50), hits (71), doubles (14), walks (34), and total bases (108). She started all 49 games in center field, posted a 21-game hitting streak and a 37-game on-base streak, and finished with a .984 fielding percentage. That season earned her second-team All-America honors from D1Softball, third-team recognition from the NFCA, first-team All-Pacific Region and All-WCC honors, and Academic All-America status. She also holds WCC career records for highest career batting average (.440) and single-season mark (.486), and was named WCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
After transferring to Grand Canyon University as a graduate student for the 2024 season, Trierweiler shifted primarily to first base. She was named WAC Player of the Year and earned first-team All-WAC honors while starting all 63 games. She hit .456 with 94 hits (including 15 doubles), 25 stolen bases, and just 12 strikeouts in 206 at-bats. She helped the Lopes capture a WAC championship and continued the high-contact, low-strikeout approach that defined her career. Earlier at Carlmont High School, she earned all-state and all-conference recognition, hit .568 as a senior, and set the school record with 199 career hits.
Trierweiler’s combination of plate discipline, speed, defensive range in the outfield, and experience at first base gives the Gateway Gold flexibility as they prepare for their inaugural PSL campaign. The expansion club, led by former Cardinals pitcher Kyle McClellan, joins a six-team league that includes the Kansas City Diamonds and is scheduled to play a 40-game slate from June through August. Home venue details are still being finalized following strong exhibition crowds that helped secure the franchise.
With professional seasoning from the Rise and Breeze alongside an elite college track record, Trierweiler brings proven production and adaptability to a Gateway Gold roster that is taking shape ahead of the 2027 season.
