St. Louis (0-1) hosts Cincinnati (1-0) for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Rockwood Summit High School in Fenton (1780 Hawkins Rd.)

The SLAM – current back-to-back WFA national champions – suffered a 24-7 season opening loss to Minnesota at RSHS two weekends ago. The Vixen triumph snapped St. Louis’ 18-winning streak.

“I am a firm believer that you learn way more in a loss than you do a win,” reflected SLAM Coach Quincy Davis after the setback. “We gotta take our lumps from this and figure out how to change our trajectory and move on from it.”

St. Louis veteran quarterback Jaime Gaal helms a offense paced by the front line of Tamikka Brents, Pamela Green, Jennifer Perkins, Antonnia Washington and Jazmynn Day.

Running back Jada Humphrey leads the charge in rushing while receivers Sydney Bloch and Amanda Richardson aim to snare Gaal’s throws.

On the defensive side, rookie linebacker Kerrigan Gamm claimed a “Pick 6” against Minnesota that opened eyes.

Kinnaudy Daniels, Brooklyn Devitt, Tay Johnson, Mary Altepeter, Zariah Johnson, Tenesha Glass, Julia Kempff and a host of others are primed for a defensive lockdown against the visitors.

Cincinnati – a former WFA Division 3 national champ that upgraded to WFA Pro this season – blanked in-state rival Colombus, 52-0, in Week 1 for a quick sprint.

As always, the SLAM would appreciate a vocal crowd in support Saturday at home.
