Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, announced at CES 2026 a partnership with Dolby to integrate advanced audio and video technologies, becoming the first streamer to do so fully.
Key among the upgrades is Dolby AC-4, expected later in 2026, which will enable viewers to personalize audio mixes during live sports events. Fans can adjust—or completely mute—announcer commentary while controlling crowd noise levels for a tailored experience.
NBCUniversal’s SVP of Global Video Engineering, David Bohunek, highlighted the feature’s potential: “We can let the customers do what they prefer… and maybe let them turn off commentary completely if that’s what they want.”
These controls will be exclusive to Peacock streams, not available on traditional linear TV due to technical constraints. The enhancements will roll out across major events like NFL games, NBA, MLB, Premier League, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move addresses long-standing fan complaints about announcer volume and broadcast audio balance, potentially setting a new standard for sports streaming personalization. No exact launch date for AC-4 features has been confirmed beyond “later in 2026.”
