Legendary director Steven Spielberg is back in the sci-fi spotlight with Disclosure Day, his highly anticipated original event film exploring the moment humanity learns we’re not alone in the universe. Released today, December 16, 2025, the first teaser trailer has already sent chills across the internet, teasing a modern take on alien disclosure that echoes classics like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and War of the Worlds.
Starring Emily Blunt as a meteorologist thrust into the center of an otherworldly event, alongside Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Wyatt Russell, the film follows a group grappling with undeniable proof of extraterrestrial life. The trailer opens with eerie silence and cryptic imagery—strange animal behavior, crop circles, and unsettling clicking sounds—before building to a jaw-dropping sequence where Blunt’s character appears possessed live on air.
“If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?” the official logline asks. “This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day.”
Written by longtime collaborator David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds) based on Spielberg’s story, and scored by John Williams, Disclosure Day marks the director’s first feature since 2022’s The Fabelmans.
