Kristof Papp of the Lindenwood men’s hockey team becomes the latest member of the Lions to sign a professional contract, inking an amateur tryout deal with the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL
The Heartlanders are an AA minor league hockey team and are affiliates of the Minnesota Wild of the NHL and the Calgary Wranglers of the AHL. The Rush participate in the Central Division of the ECHL.
Papp appeared in 29 games for the Lions this past season, tallying 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He was strong in the faceoff dot, winning 54 percent of his draws.
Prior to his time at Lindenwood, Papp spent a combined four seasons at Northern Michigan and Michigan State, appearing in 131 games and totaling 61 points on 19 goals and 42 assists. Papp was invited to St. Louis Blues development camp this past summer.
He joins teammates David Gagnon and Artyom Borshyov, who signed with the Rapid City Rush as individuals from the Lions who have signed professional contracts.
