“Kicking off with infectious, shimmering guitar riffs, “Stand So Close” quickly transforms into an irresistibly head-bopping anthem, powered by its driving, pulsating backbeat and Dalyrymple’s rich, emotive vocal delivery. The production is a standout feature, seamlessly blending retro-inspired synths and intricately textured guitar work, creating a vibrant yet atmospheric backdrop that perfectly complements the track’s brooding lyrical themes, which explore the jealous and possessive facets of desire. The song concludes with a soaring, emphatic saxophone solo, showcasing the trio’s impressive versatility and offering an enticing glimpse of the sonic brilliance to come on their forthcoming EP.” – Wonderland Magazine
“Pretty Jane were my bet to be the next indie band to blow up in 2023, but now that the band is settled in Nashville, it is officially time for them to take that momentum to the next level.” – Sheeshmedia
Alternative/indie rock band, Pretty Jane are thrilled to release their new single “Quiet” that is out now on all platforms HERE.
The band says, “It’s funny, we all seem to have a soft spot for a girl talking quietly,” laughs Dalrymple. “We like the idea that you can be exhausted, completely spent in a relationship, but those little soft moments of intimacy, the right glance or tone of voice, can just level you and make you overlook the issues”.
“I think often when you’re expressing strong emotions there’s an instinct to make the art big and powerful,” notes DiVergilio. “With Quiet the idea was to make the song feel as small and unassuming as possible.”
“It’s a very tender feeling”, says Strain. “We wanted the chorus to reflect that softness, so we decided to strip away the arrangement almost completely, and let the breathy intimacy of the vocals carry the section.”
Daisy Art-pop ballad “Quiet” is haunting and reserved… until it isn’t. A tasteful atmosphere of almost recognizable sounds reminiscent of Mk.gee envelops Dalrymple as he barely whispers lyrics about longing for what he can’t have. The song almost shirks from attention until it explodes into an unhinged shoegazey bridge dripping with nervous energy, only to return to its state of muffled desire. The chorus arrangement reflects themes of intimacy in an otherwise hostile relationship.
