Lindenwood Women’s Ice Hockey Earn Shootout Win Over Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, MINN. – On Saturday, women’s ice hockey took on Bemidji State for the second time this weekend. The Lions would skate to a 3-3 tie against the Beavers but the Lions would win the exhibition shootout 2-1.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, Bemidji State would get on the board first. The Beavers would score the first goal of the game, 5:57 into the period. Bemidji State’s early lead would be short lived. At 08:27, Hannah Dods would score on a back-handed shot, to tie the game up at 1-1. Dods’ goal would be unassisted. 17:18 into the period, the Lions would find their first lead of the weekend, from a Morgan Neitzke score. Neitzke’s goal would be assisted by Sidney Jackel and Ellie Muscedere. With 2:32 left to go in the period, Lindenwood would lead 2-1. For the remainder of the period both teams would be held off the scoring column. Madison Bowtell would make eight saves in the period. The Lions would have eight shots on net in the frame.

In the second period, the Lions would be held off the scoresheet. Bemidji State would score the only goal period, at 14:28 into the frame. After two periods of play, the game would be tied up at 2-2. Bowtell stopped 12 pucks in the period. The Lions would find six shots on target14 in the frame.

In the third period, Bemidji State would regain the lead at 3:56 into the frame. Almost five minutes later at 08:14, Molly Henderson would score on a one-timer, assisted by Olivia Grabianowski and Elina Zilliox, tying the game up at 3-3. Both teams would be held off the scoresheet for the remainder of the period, forcing overtime. In the third period, Bowtell made four saves, and Lindenwood had nine shots on target.

Both teams would be held off the scoring column in overtime, forcing a shootout. In overtime, Bowtell made five stops, for a total of 29 on the night.

In the shootout, Neitzke and Henderson would score. Bowtell made two stops in the shootout, to earn the shootout win.
