Indie-folk trio Oliver Hazard’s upcoming EP, Raindrop River, is a collection of warmly harmonic sing-alongs that celebrates the increasingly rare phenomenon of an earnest, uncomplicated band at its peak. The EP is set for release on December 6th, and with this news they share their latest single, “The Morning.” Pre-save Raindrop River HERE and listen to “The Morning” HERE.
With Raindrop River, singer Mike Belazis says, “We wanted to take what we did with our first album, how raw and live it was, and merge it with our last album, where everything was simple and clean.”
On “The Morning,” he adds, “Timing is one of the most important things in life, and it can be a tough thing to navigate. Missed connections, missed opportunities. ‘The Morning’ is a song about our relationships in life and wondering where exactly they will be the following morning. The song whispers that tomorrow could bring change, urging us not to assume that it will mirror today.”
“The Morning” follows Oliver Hazard’s previous singles “Haunted,” a poignant track about the absence of a loved one, the nostalgic “Honey, I’m Hardly,” and the liberating “Wild Eyed Blue” about the frontier of possibilities. While some musicians are scheming to go viral, the indie-folk band Oliver Hazard has been killing it the old-fashioned way: squeezing into a van, traversing a tangle of Interstates, and winning over fans one city at a time. At the start of their career, the band created a Living Room Tour, where one fan would host the band and invite over some friends. Since then, Oliver Hazard has headlined their own national tour, created the Oliver Hazard Day festival in their hometown of Waterville, played Bonnaroo and Mountain Jam, and amassed nearly 850K Spotify monthly listeners. Thus far, the group has released a pair of albums (34 N. River, Oliver Hazard) and two EPs (The Flood, Northern Lights). With the new EP, Raindrop River, Oliver Hazard continues to showcase their unrelenting charm.
Oliver Hazard is Mike Belazis (frontman, guitars), Devin East (guitars) and Nate Miner (keys).
