After four albums, and countless shows with his band The Collection, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist David Wimbish returns to his solo origins as, David Wimbish & The Collection. To celebrate the announcement, David is thrilled to release his first single, “Love Me More,” an acoustic, emotionally charged track with resonant vocals highlighted by acoustic guitars. Listen HERE. “When my career began, the name of the project was David Wimbish & The Collection. Over the following years, what was originally a solo project became a band. The relationships were close, both emotionally and musically, and they remain that way. But after 10 years of playing as a band, life decided it was time for that chapter to end. I’ve loved making and performing music with my friends. There have been so many beautiful moments we’ve shared, and I am incredibly grateful to my bandmates, and our fans, for all of it. But there’s a new life to this next chapter. I’m getting back to a more organic sonic footprint that’s more focused on serving the song. I returned to writing in a way that I hadn’t in a long time and stepping into a very honest space,” David adds about the new iteration. When discussing the new single, he admits, “I’ve struggled a lot with self-image. ‘Love Me More’ was born from a relationship that did eventually end, and it was written during a long period where I felt like the situation was always on the edge of unravelling. The first fear was like, ‘What if you love me more than I love you?’ By the end, I started to notice the real fear was ‘What if you love me more than I love me?’.” “Love Me More” introduces David’s new direction and leads into the release of a raw, emotion-driven full-length album set for mid-2025. Throughout David’s time in The Collection, the band released three independent albums, 2014’s full-length debut Ars Moriendi, Listen To The River [2017] and Entropy [2018]. The latter featured “Beautiful Life,” earning the band praise from American Songwriter, Parade, and more, even landing on NPR Tiny Desk Judges’ Picks. This was bolstered by the band’s riotous shows touring with the likes of Oh Hello, RIPE, Tall Heights, and Sammy Rae & Friends. Their 2023 EP, How to Survive an Ending, was a post-pandemic roadmap of resolve and celebrating the moment. With Little Deaths, however, Wimbish brought his most personal body of work to the forefront. The album featured the breakout single “Medication,” about overcoming the stigma of asking for and getting mental health help. Now, David is embarking on a new journey, solo and deeply vulnerable.
