Gibson Jimerson and Terrence Hargrove Jr. combined for 41 points on 15-of-24 shooting on Senior Night at Chaifetz Arena, but 25th-ranked Dayton defeated Saint Louis 100-83 Tuesday night in the Billikens’ 2023-24 home finale.
Jimerson, whose 8-of-13 shooting effort included 4-of-8 from 3-point range, tallied 24 points. He added a season-high-tying five assists.
Hargrove was 7-of-11 from the floor and scored 17 points. He led the Bills with five rebounds.
Three other players scored in double figures for SLU. Bradley Ezewiro tossed in 15 points, Larry Hughes II had 12, and Kellen Thames finished with 10. Hughes matched his career best of five assists, tying Jimerson for game-high honors, and collected a game-high three steals.
Saint Louis shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the field and 93.8 percent (15-of-16) from the foul line.
Jimerson scored seven points and Hargrove added four to guide the Billikens to a 13-6 lead with 13:31 left in the first half. Dayton chipped away and went on top for good, 27-25, on a Koby Brea 3-pointer at the 7:38 mark. That was part of a 28-10 run that gave the Flyers a 49-35 halftime advantage.
Thames scored eight points, including a pair of three-point plays, in a 19-8 Saint Louis surge that whittled Dayton’s 25-point lead to 80-66 with 6:37 remaining. However, the Billikens drew no closer.
The Billikens conclude the regular season Saturday, March 9, at St. Bonaventure. Tip time is 11:30 a.m. Central, and the game will be televised on USA Network.
