Ohio metalcore mainstays Miss May I have unveiled “Highbrow Thieves,” the latest single from their eighth studio album, *No Place For Me*, due October 2 via Solid State Records. The track arrives with an official video and another pointed look at the record’s personal core.
Frontman Levi Benton says the song is not about stolen property. It is about something harder to recover. “‘Highbrow Thieves’ is written from the perspective of someone worked to the bone, taking orders from people with no remorse for who they’re giving them to,” Benton said. “The ‘thieves’ here aren’t after riches or objects — what they’re really stealing is something far more valuable: Time.”
That idea sits inside a larger album Benton describes as cathartic. “*No Place For Me* is everything I’ve felt for a long time but never had the words for,” he said. “Writing it taught me who I actually am even when that hurt to look at. It’s a full journey: Where it started, what I discovered, and where I am today.”
The record is the band’s Solid State debut and first full-length since 2022’s *Curse of Existence*. The current lineup — Benton, drummer Jerod Boyd, bassist Ryan Neff, and guitarist Elisha Mullins — frames the material in the group’s familiar mix of technical riffing, hardcore drive, and melody. Since forming in 2007, Miss May I have built a long catalog that includes the Billboard 200 breakthrough *At Heart* (2012), plus *Deathless* and *Shadows Inside*, both Top 10 on Billboard’s independent and rock album charts. They have also logged hundreds of millions of streams and toured with Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and Motionless In White.

The band will take the new material on the road this fall and winter on The Perpetual Iron Tour, a co-headline run with Born of Osiris. Convictions and Downswing are also on the bill. Dates begin November 6 in Pontiac, Michigan, and run through December 19 in Dayton, Ohio, including a December 15 stop at The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri.
