After a strong finish in the final week of the season, Chiefs outfielder Andrew Williamson was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for September 1-6 by Minor League Baseball.
Williamson finished the regular season with the best week of his young pro career, batting 6-11 in four games, mashing two home runs and finishing the series with a 1.904 OPS.
The highlight of Williamson’s big week came Friday night, when the lefty belted two home runs: a leadoff shot in the first inning against Royals No. 1 prospect Kendry Chourio and a game-tying laser in the eighth inning.
Williamson, 21, was drafted by the Cardinals in the second competitive balance round of this year’s draft out of Central Florida. He is ranked the Cardinals No. 28 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Through 20 games in the professional ranks, Williamson racked up 14 hits, five of which were home runs.
The Chiefs open the 2027 season on April 2 at Dozer Park, hosting the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
