Sheek Pearson is coming home.

The 6-foot-11 forward announced Thursday that he will transfer to Saint Louis University, where he will begin his four years of remaining collegiate eligibility in the 2026-27 season. A St. Charles, Mo., native who redshirted as a freshman at Marquette last season after reclassifying into the 2025 class, Pearson represents a significant get for Billikens head coach Josh Schertz — and a homecoming for one of the area’s most decorated recent high-school talents.

“We are really excited to add a player and person of Sheek Pearson’s caliber to our program,” Schertz said in the program’s release. “He’s not just talented, he’s super competitive and extremely ambitious with the horsepower behind it in terms of his work ethic. Sheek is a fantastic rim protector who rebounds on both ends of the floor. He’s the rare archetype who can create vertical and horizontal spacing. Sheek’s combination of humility, confidence and drive will allow him to reach his immense ceiling. It is a great day for Billiken basketball.”

Pearson’s arrival instantly upgrades the Billikens’ frontcourt. A one-time top-50 prospect in ESPN’s rankings and the highest-rated recruit to sign with SLU since Larry Hughes arrived in 1997-98, he arrives with the physical tools and pedigree to make an immediate impact. At 6-11 with a reported 7-foot-1 wingspan, Pearson is mobile and agile for his size, with soft hands and the ability to finish above the rim or protect it on the other end.

He spent three standout seasons at John Burroughs School in St. Louis under former Billiken Darryl “Pee Wee” Lenard. Pearson helped the Bombers to a state tournament runner-up finish in 2023-24 and a district title game appearance in 2024-25 as part of a 69-19 run. As a senior he averaged 16.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting a robust 64.2 percent from the field, earning All-State, All-District and first-team All-Metro Conference honors for the third straight year. He led the program in blocked shots in each of his final two seasons. His junior campaign produced 13.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game in a 27-5 season that reached the state title game.

On the AAU circuit with Brad Beal Elite, Pearson helped capture the Peach Jam U16 championship in 2024 and the U17 title in 2025, further cementing his reputation as a versatile, high-motor big.

Pearson originally committed to Marquette in May 2025 as a member of the Class of 2026 before reclassifying to enroll early and redshirt. He never appeared in a game for the Golden Eagles, entering the transfer portal on the final day of the spring window in late April. SLU had been among his finalists out of high school and reportedly offered him then, along with programs such as Missouri, Illinois and Purdue. Local ties and Schertz’s vision evidently made the Billikens the right fit this time around.

The Billikens just added a centerpiece who knows the St. Louis basketball scene intimately — and who now gets four full seasons to chase his immense ceiling in front of the hometown crowd.
