Former Florida Gators wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery has officially committed to the Missouri Tigers. The announcement marks the third wide receiver addition via the portal this offseason for Mizzou, joining transfers from Cincinnati (Caleb Goodie) and Auburn (Horatio Fields).

Montgomery, a 6-foot-1, 189-pound wideout, enters the Tigers’ program with four years of eligibility remaining after a brief stint in Gainesville. As a true freshman with the Gators in 2025, he appeared in just four games, recording three receptions for 26 yards while preserving his redshirt status. Despite the limited production, Montgomery’s upside is undeniable—he arrived at Florida as a highly regarded four-star recruit from the Class of 2025.

Out of Miami Central High School in Florida (with roots in West Palm Beach and originally from Central Falls, Rhode Island), Montgomery drew offers from blue-blood programs including LSU, Penn State, Miami, and Alabama during his high school recruitment. Recruiting services such as On3 and Rivals rated him as a four-star talent, highlighting his athleticism, route-running potential, and track background in events like hurdles.

The commitment comes at a pivotal time for Missouri’s offense. The Tigers have been active in the portal, adding their 12th transfer overall this cycle as Drinkwitz continues reshaping the squad for the 2026 season. With Montgomery’s addition, Mizzou now has three new wide receivers in the fold, signaling a clear intent to deepen and upgrade the receiving group ahead of what promises to be a competitive SEC slate.

Montgomery’s decision to enter the portal after one season at Florida was not entirely unexpected. Limited playing time behind established talent prompted the move, as he sought a program where he could compete for meaningful snaps and develop further. After visiting several schools—including Washington, Pittsburgh, UCLA, and Missouri—he ultimately chose the Tigers, opting to stay in the SEC while moving to a program on the rise under Drinkwitz.

This transfer aligns with Missouri’s recent strategy of targeting high-potential young players who need a change of scenery to unlock their abilities. Montgomery’s size, speed, and recruiting pedigree make him a promising piece for an offense looking to add explosive playmakers.

As Missouri builds toward 2026, Montgomery joins a receiving room that already features emerging talents and now boasts added depth from the portal. The Tigers’ staff will have the opportunity to develop him in a system that has produced productive receivers in recent years.
