On January 8, 2026, Taco Bell is turning up the heat to kick off the new year, unleashing the Volcano Quesarito nationwide alongside the debut of Volcano Sauce – a creamy, spicy successor to the legendary Lava Sauce that has long held cult status among fans.
The Volcano Quesarito, priced at $4.99 (at participating locations), builds on the recently revived Quesarito by supercharging it with the new sauce. It features seasoned beef, seasoned rice, and reduced-fat sour cream wrapped in a burrito, then encased in a grilled quesadilla loaded with melted cheeses, Nacho Cheese sauce, and the star: Volcano Sauce.
Volcano Sauce is described as a craveable blend of cheese and flavorful spices, honoring the fiery legacy of the original Lava Sauce while offering an even bolder kick tailored for spice enthusiasts.

Lava Sauce first erupted onto the scene in 2008 with the Volcano Taco, quickly becoming a fan obsession for its cheesy richness paired with intense heat. It powered the Volcano Menu through multiple limited-time runs, including comebacks in 2015 and 2023, before fading away and sparking petitions and DIY recreations from devoted customers.
Now, Volcano Sauce steps in as its “protégé,” aiming to recapture that magic with an updated, more craveable profile.
Fans can add Volcano Sauce to any menu item or order it on the side for a limited time.
