Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4, titled “Call Me Red,” delivers a thrilling and nostalgic high point for the series, blending dark humor, stellar guest stars, and a pivotal father-son moment. The episode centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) infiltrating a secret serial killer dinner party while Harrison (Jack Alcott) grapples with his conscience.

Dexter, posing as the “Dark Passenger” killer Ronald Schmidt, attends an exclusive gathering hosted by eccentric venture capitalist Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage). Using a glued-on fingerprint and masking technology, Dexter gains entry to a lavish mansion where he meets a roster of killers, including Krysten Ritter’s vigilante-esque Lady Vengeance, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. Prater, not a killer himself but a fanboy, shows off his macabre collection, including John Wayne Gacy’s clown costume, Jeffrey Dahmer’s fridge, and Dexter’s own Bay Harbor Butcher blood slides, sparking nostalgia and unease. The dinner party, soundtracked by the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” is both tense and darkly funny, with Dexter’s sardonic wit shining as he navigates the bizarre social scene and connects with Ritter’s character, Mia, who shares a similar moral code.

Meanwhile, Harrison faces mounting guilt after his recent kill. Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas) confronts him, drawing parallels between Harrison’s actions and the Bay Harbor Butcher’s trail of collateral damage, including the deaths of Maria, Deb, and Harrison’s mother. Haunted by Batista’s words, Harrison heads to the police station to confess, only to be stopped by Dexter, who emerges from the shadows in a dramatic reunion that sets the stage for the season’s emotional core.

The episode balances innovation with nostalgia, delivering a standout kill when Dexter eliminates Lowell, the Tattoo Collector, to save a potential victim. With sharp writing, a killer soundtrack, and a cliffhanger reunion, “Call Me Red” is a triumphant return to form, hailed as one of the best Dexter episodes in years.
