Yellowcard - Take What You Want (Official Music Video)

No Description

Alt-rock legends Yellowcard are back with a vengeance, dropping their electrifying new single “Take What You Want” alongside a vibrant music video that captures the raw energy of their recent tours across Japan, Australia, and Europe. The track, released globally today, is the third single from their highly anticipated album Better Days, set to hit the airwaves on October 10th. Following the success of the album’s title track “Better Days” and “honestly i,” which have already racked up over 4 million streams since their May 28th release, Yellowcard is proving they’re as vital as ever in 2025.

The forthcoming Better Days is a landmark for the band, produced and executive produced by none other than Travis Barker, who also lays down drums on every track. Barker’s influence is undeniable, bringing a pulsating energy to the record. The album’s title track is already making waves, climbing to #13 on the Mediabase Alternative chart in just four weeks. Lead singer Ryan Key describes the new single: “’Take What You Want’ really captures the amazing energy of these sessions with Travis Barker producing. The drums immediately pull you in, and the melodies are so focused and memorable.”

For Yellowcard, this album isn’t just another release—it’s a mission to create the best work of their career. After their 2017 disbandment and 2022 reunion, the band approached Better Days with a renewed sense of purpose. They took their time, refusing to rush the process, and opened themselves up to collaboration. Guitarist Ryan Mendez brought in long-time friend Nick Long for writing sessions, and through Long, Barker joined the project, elevating it to new heights. “I started the record as one version of myself and came out the other side changed,” Key reflects. “I went in knowing I needed help. I came out of it writing songs like I was 19 again.”

Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997, Yellowcard carved out a unique space in the 2000s alt-rock scene with their high-energy pop-punk sound and signature violin flourishes. Their 2003 breakthrough Ocean Avenue went platinum, with the title track earning double-platinum status. With over 4 million albums sold worldwide and 1 billion streams, Yellowcard’s influence is undeniable. Once a staple on MTV, the Billboard Hot 100, and the Vans Warped Tour, the band sounds revitalized, tapping into the same youthful energy that made them icons.

About Yellowcard

Yellowcard meant it when they said goodbye. The lights dimmed on one of the most beloved pop-punk and alt-rock bands of the 2000s with intention and authenticity. Wrapping things up with a farewell tour, Yellowcard exited the “right” way, with grace, appreciation, and finality.

But the story wasn’t complete. Legacy cracked the door. Healing blew it wide open. Riding a resurgence that saw the global Ocean Avenue 20th anniversary tour featured in Forbes and a reconciliation that put all four members at peace with their legacy and each other, Yellowcard just made the most ambitious and emotionally resonant record of their career. Better Days, the band’s first album in nearly a decade, was produced by blink-182’s Travis Barker, who also played drums on every track.

Their first release with powerhouse label Better Noise Music, Better Days is Yellowcard’s testimony that healing is a process, growth is nonlinear, and sometimes the best chapter opens after the supposed ending. This isn’t just a return. It’s a reckoning. And this time, Yellowcard is ready.

Yellowcard is:

·      William Ryan Key – Vocals/Guitar

·      Sean Mackin – Violin

·      Ryan Mendez – Guitar

·      Josh Portman – Bass
