With Somewhere Along the Trail, Vol. 2,  Theo brings it back to the basics with a three-song EP. “Every two years, I aim to put out a triplet of songs – recorded live, just me and my guitar – that I wouldn’t want to produce any other way,” Theo explains. Following the release of Vol. 1 (2023) and his debut album, Eating And Drinking And Being In Love (2024), this release strips everything down to the core and reminds fans that while Theo can explore all the layers of folk music, it’s ultimately all about the songs. He says, “With album #2 in the works already, I wanted to make sure nobody forgets about my sweet fingerpicking and the pureness of a simple song.”

As the final track from this project, “Leroy’s Song” is a touching ode to Theo’s grandfather. It celebrates his life and captures the beauty in the ordinary.

In his own words, Theo explains: “My grandpa Leroy is 94 years old and has lived in Chicago his entire life. He’s run a number of delis/grocery stores in that time, and while he hasn’t had the flashiest life – nor the most adventurous – in my estimation, it’s been full to the brim. I think we’ve been conditioned to believe that success means money and fame and unbridled ambition (I am not immune to this), and that can often permeate the music of the times. I wanted to give voice to the quieter side of life, lived by Leroy and Moreyn.”
