SOM have shared an innovative new video for latest single “Let The Light In,” the title track from their forthcoming third full-length album set for release on March 14, 2025 through Berlin’s Pelagic Records.

As the title track of the forthcoming album, “Let The Light In” shows the newly reconfigured four-piece pushing their razor-sharp pop edge to the fore. Frontman Will Benoit’s ethereal voice soars above shimmering guitars whilst the band’s post-metal prowess can still be keenly felt in the weight of the halftime, headbanging grooves and driving riffs that propel SOM’s distinctive sound ever further.

From award-winning Queer Muslim writer/director Samia Zaidi (who has previously collaborated with SOM on past music videos for Awake // Sedate, Everything I Wanted, Center, and Personal Jesus), the accompanying video for “Let The Light In” takes inspiration from the track’s bittersweet optimism, hinting at our everyday interconnectedness and how so much can be said without saying a word. One of two linked videos directed by Zaidi for the band, “Let The Light In” begins a series of inter-woven stories soon to be continued.

Discussing the video and her work with the band, Samia Zaidi said: “This album, especially these two songs, thematically presented us with a unique visual opportunity to not only explore the act of summoning a sort of primal optimism during dark times, but to explore both the social and individual experiences of interiority within both optimism and darkness.”

With a unique sound dubbed “Doom Pop” by Metal Injection, SOM’s dreamy shoegaze roots are on display across Let The Light In but there is heft at its core that is bracing and ferocious. Adversity became the catalyst for change when, due to unforeseen circumstances, the band’s founding drummer left midway through the album’s writing and recording process. SOM took the remainder of 2023 to reshape and refocus, eventually re-recording most of the album in a new configuration that allowed them to paint in even broader sonic strokes. The result is a raw but richly melodic album unafraid to travel through the depths of human emotion, ultimately guiding us towards growth and enlightenment.

Since 2019, SOM have toured extensively across North America, Europe and the UK alongside acts including KatatoniaSolstafirSlow Crush, and many more. This relentless live commitment across 21 countries, coupled with 2023’s introspective restructuring, has profoundly altered their creative approach.

Armed with a newfound, hard-earned maturity, Let The Light In is SOM’s testament to resilience and evolution. Born from challenge and change, the album pulses with confidence and catharsis, imploring the listener and the band themselves to traverse the darkness and find the light.

Let The Light In is released on the March 14.
