“The McRib is more than a sandwich – it’s a part of culture, it’s a legend, it’s an event,” chief marketing and customer experience officer Tariq Hassan said in a statement. “’McRib SZN’ is a holiday unto itself, so we wanted to embrace that spirit and give fans an even bigger way to celebrate this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.”

The McRib, a sandwich featuring a rib-shaped boneless pork patty, barbecue sauce, onions, and pickle slices, was first introduced in 1981. Its cult status has earned the sandwich plenty of popular culture references, including on The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and Family Guy.
The McRib returns to McDonald’s on December 3rd for a limited time.
