Cage The Elephant brought the Neon Pill Tour to Hollywood Casino Amphitheater with guests Young the Giant, Bakar and Willow Avalon. The crowd smelled of free spirits, and patchouli on this gorgeous September evening.
The show opened with Willow Avalon. She had a refreshingly contemporary take on classic country sounds infused with timeless songwriting sensibilities. She had a short yet dynamic set and closed with her latest single, “Homewrecker”.
The next performer to take the stage was a bloke named Bakar. He brought his melting pot of indie, rap, rock, and punk from across the pond to get this venue hyped for the headliners! His raw, powerful vocals filled the venue, and there was an authenticity to his live performance that is undeniable and incomparable. His set was short but delivered and he closed with his hit,”Hell N Back”.
Young The Giant. The band burst onto the stage with an energy that was palpable, instantly capturing the attention of everyone in the venue. Their performance was nothing less than exceptional. It was a truly transcendent vibe with music and energy that electrified the crowd, inspiring dancing and everyone stood during the entire set. Young the Giant treated the crowd to a mix of their biggest hits and fan favorites. Songs like “Cough Syrup,” “My Body,” and “Camera” (1st time played since 2015)! This setlist definitely created an unforgettable experience that every Young the Giant fan deserves.
Cage the Elephant- we are happy to have you back! Thank you! It’s been too long old friends and hopefully Saint Louis has proven that you’re right where y’all need to be! Let’s take a minute to truly appreciate the strength of front man Matt Shultz having found himself on a journey of healing and bringing us all a new album after FIVE years.
Cage the Elephant brought the heat, literally the pyro was intense and opening with the most fitting song, “Broken Boy” as Matt Schultz commands the stage with his scooter- broken foot and all! Shultz moved his way around the stage, popped the occasional wheelie and did the best he could throughout the band’s 90-minute set. This tour is promoting their new Album, Neon Pill , but they did a great job mixing the new songs in with the OG songs for a very engaging setlist. These Kentucky boys brought so much energy, nostalgia and appreciation for the fans. I highly recommend catching them live anytime you get the opportunity. The energy of the band, the energy of the crowd is something that can’t even be put into words. It’s amazing to feel the power of music shared between a band and their audience.
