“Mercy Mercy” Now Spinning at Triple A & Alternative Radio Today, The Glorious Sons release their new moving single “Cellular.” The song is nostalgic and grand, a personal reflection that serves as a touching tribute to lead singer Brett Emmons’ late grandfather. About the track, Brett shares, “‘Cellular’ is a song about my Papa Lynn. He was a chain-smoking, barrel-gutted, illegal satellite dealer. A widower that never got remarried. He was convinced our family was related to Sir Isaac Newton. He was Jacque Laplante’s backup for a minute and spent most of his twenties traveling the States and Canada in the farm leagues with my grandmother following him around. He was a family man to the core, but in a very unconventional way. Toward the end of his life, basically I think he just drove around checking on everyone everyday— drinking coffee, staying for a while and moving on to the next place. He was still flying out alone to the band’s shows just a couple years before his death. One night in Watertown— he drove down to see an old friend and watch our first American show. He ended up drinking with Jay till 5 in the morning. He was truly a loner in a way— yet he created this sense of community in our family with an easiness that is very hard to describe. Really he was always just there. He was there when you’d fight with your parents telling you to ‘listen to their rules, and go do what you want anyway if you want to avoid a fight.’ He was there when I quit school saying ‘Brett knows what he wants to do.’ He was everybody’s biggest supporter— and he didn’t take life too seriously at all. There was never any talk of love or any real big emotion with him. So I guess this was my chance to tell him— and a way for me to try and understand what I am and where I came from.” “Cellular” is the latest release off the band’s forthcoming album ‘Glory,’ due out September 6th via Warner Music Canada / ADA Worldwide. The band will also be embarking on their headlining The Glory Tour this fall, an exhilarating journey through 57 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
