Ralph Macchio & William Zabka are back as Daniel LaRusso & Johnny Lawrence in the new YouTube Red series ‘Cobra Kai’.

The series takes place thirty four years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament that LaRusso beat Lawrence in (with that illegal kick) in the first Karate Kid movie. Johnny opens up a Cobra Kai dojo that rekindles his rivalry with LaRusso.

I just binged straight through all 10 episodes! It was great and a lot better than I expected it to be… and I was a big fan of the original movies.

When I first saw there was a trailer for this, I figured it was something fan-made. Once it started playing and I saw Daniel and Johnny, I figured it was just a cool and fun spoof, but it turned out to actually be happening.

I still expected this to only be a short mini-series and not have me hooked and wanting more! It was left open for a 2nd season and it will no doubt happen as I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy it like I did.

Funny, nostalgic, all while dealing with today’s youth.
