THE BASICS
– All five Billiken starters ended in double-digits on Sunday in the 88-72 win over the Davidson Wildcats at Chaifetz Arena.
– The win was the third-consecutive for Saint Louis.
– Jackie Kemph grabbed her second double-double in five games with her 12-point, 10 assist performance
– Paige Rakers collected 17 points and was a perfect four-of-four from the free throw line.
– Maddison Gits followed-up her career performance on Wednesday with her eighth double-double of the season.
– Jenny Vliet recorded a career-high 21 points and shot 70 percent from the floor.
– Jordyn Frantz recorded her 10th game in double digits with 13 points in Sunday’s win over Davidson.
FIRST QUARTER
– Vliet opened-up the game with a drive to the hole and a three-pointer in the first minute to put the Billikens up 5-0, which caused Davidson to use its first timeout of the game.
– The Billikens opened-up a 14-6 lead with just under four minutes to play as Vliet continued her assault. She ended the quarter with 10 points and two-for-four from three-point range.
– Davidson’s Justine Lyon led the Wildcats with eight points and was two-for-two from beyond the arc as she helped close the gap.
– Both teams committed five turnovers in the opening 10 minutes of play.
SECOND QUARTER
– The Billikens put together a 6-2 run to start the second frame.
– Saint Louis’ hot shooting cooled in the second quarter, but free throws became key. The Billikens connected on seven of eight free throw opportunities.
– Davidson cut the Billiken lead to as little as three, but offensive rebounds helped Saint Louis keep its advantage. The home team collected three offensive boards in the frame as they ended the half with a 38-33 lead.
– Maddison Gits finished the half just two points and three rebounds away from a double-double. She had seven total double-doubles on the year leading-up to Sunday’s contest.
THIRD QUARTER
– Davidson’s Mackenzie Latt opened the scoring for the Wildcats with a jumper just eight seconds in, to cut the Billiken lead in half to 38-35.
– Saint Louis knocked-down two of its four three-point tries in the first five minutes as it built a 10-point, 53-43 lead midway through the quarter.
– The third quarter was good to Jordyn Frantz. After just two points in the first half, she collected eight to lead all scorers in the frame. She was a perfect two-for-two from behind the arc.
– Paige Rakers posted five of the final nine points for the Billikens.
FOURTH QUARTER
– Both teams traded triples to begin the final period of play. Katie Turner hit the first as Vliet answered on the other end to keep the 13-point lead intact.
– The Wildcats went two-for-six from the floor in the first 3:08 as the Billikens went four-for-six.
– Davidson’s Katie Turner went three-for-four from three-point range in the final quarter of play.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
– Gits recorded her fifth consecutive double-double in her 15 point, 14 rebound performance.
– Vliet’s 21 point performance was a career-high for the senior forward. Her previous high was 19 against Cleveland State this season on Nov. 24, 2017.
– Vliet tied a career-high in three-pointers made with five on the afternoon.
– The Billikens shot 52 percent from the floor, their second-consecutive game over 50 percent.
– Saint Louis was an incredible 18-of-20 from the free throw line on the day.
