Saint Louis junior defender Tyler David recorded his first career goal to lift the Billikens to a 1-0 victory over the fifth-ranked Louisville Cardinals Tuesday night at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens, who are receiving votes in the NSCAA coaches poll, improve to 3-1 on the season. It was the first loss of the season for No. 5 Louisville, which dips to 1-1-1.

“I was proud with the way our guys came out and fought for 90 minutes,” SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. “This game had the feel of a November post-season match with the intensity. Our guys responded well after a disappointing match at Memphis – I couldn’t be more pleased with the effort.”
