Saint Louis sophomore Brianna Lore (Sullivan, Mo./Sullivan) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference softball Pitcher of the Week for a second consecutive week.
It is the third A-10 weekly honor this season for Lore, who also has a Player of the Week award to her credit. She has four conference weekly awards in her career, adding this year’s plaudits to a Rookie of the Week nod in 2013.
Lore posted a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA last week. She struck out 15 and yielded just six hits (all singles) and four walks in 17 innings.
Lore began the week by tossing her first collegiate no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Southern Illinois March 26, a game in which she struck out seven.
The left-hander appeared in both games of the Billikens’ doubleheader against Rhode Island March 29. She beat the Rams 7-2 in the opener, allowing no earned runs, three hits and one walk while striking out seven. Lore pitched three scoreless relief innings in the nightcap.
For the season, Lore owns a 12-7 record, a 2.61 ERA and one save. She averages just 2.16 walks per seven innings and has a 2.18-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio.
In her last seven outings (five starts), Lore is 6-0 with a 0.81 ERA. She has allowed just 29 hits in 43 innings over that span, and she has a 2.5-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio while averaging only 1.95 walks per seven innings.
Saint Louis players have been recognized six times and have earned all three A-10 weekly awards this season. Mackenzie Peter and Lindsay Friedman join Lore as recipients of Player of the Week accolades, while Alex Nickel has collected Rookie of the Week laurels.
The Billikens (16-13, 3-1 A-10) are at Dayton for a conference doubleheader Wednesday, April 2.
