The St. Louis Blues return to Enterprise Center on Tuesday night looking to reset after a 1-2-0 road trip, hosting the Winnipeg Jets in the opener of a five-game homestand. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. CT, with the game available on Blue Note+ and 101 ESPN.

Both clubs enter needing a response. The Blues dropped a 5-2 decision in Nashville on Saturday to close the trip, while the Jets fell 3-2 at home to the Carolina Hurricanes the same night. Winnipeg sits at 4-2-2 and fourth in the Central Division; St. Louis is 3-4-1 and seventh. This is the first of four meetings between the teams this season.

The Blues are expected to return to a 12-forward, six-defenseman alignment after using an 11-and-seven setup in their last game. Joel Hofer is slated to start in net against his hometown team. The Winnipeg native has a 2-2-1 record with a 2.43 goals-against average and .906 save percentage through five appearances.

Projected Blues lines feature Dylan Holloway, Robert Thomas and Jimmy Snuggerud on the top unit, with Connor McMichael centering Mason McTavish and Jonatan Berggren on the second. Jake Neighbours, Dalibor Dvorsky and Pavel Buchnevich form the third line. On the fourth, Aleksanteri Kaskimaki and Otto Stenberg are expected to make their season debuts alongside Pius Suter after being recalled from Springfield. Head coach Jim Montgomery has encouraged the young forwards to “trust their instincts” and play aggressively.

On defense, Philip Broberg pairs with Justin Barron, Adam Jiricek with Colton Parayko, and Cam Fowler with Brandon Carlo. The Jets project Stuart Skinner between the pipes. He has posted a 3-0-2 mark with a 2.75 GAA and .906 save percentage in his first season in Winnipeg following the absence of Connor Hellebuyck.

Winnipeg’s top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Cole Perfetti remains intact. Connor leads the Jets with eight goals and 11 points, while Scheifele has eight points and carries a point streak into the game. The Jets are without defenseman Josh Morrissey (upper body, IR) and forward Vladislav Namestnikov (undisclosed).

Offensively, the Blues rank ninth in the NHL at 3.38 goals per game, while the Jets sit 22nd at 2.88. Defensively, St. Louis has been more vulnerable, allowing 3.50 goals per game (25th), compared with Winnipeg’s 3.00 (14th). Special teams present a clear contrast: the Jets own one of the league’s best power plays at 30 percent (third), while the Blues’ penalty kill ranks ninth at 84 percent.

Mason McTavish has been St. Louis’ most consistent offensive producer early, leading the team with five goals and nine points. Robert Thomas has a strong track record against Winnipeg, with points in nine of his last 10 meetings (five goals, eight assists). Jimmy Snuggerud, who scored a power-play goal in Nashville, will be a factor on the man advantage.

For the Jets, the Connor-Scheifele-Perfetti trio will test the Blues’ top defensive pairings. Winnipeg’s ability to generate offense at even strength while maintaining structure without Morrissey on the blue line will be a focal point. Both teams have been inconsistent over their last several games, making sustained 60-minute efforts a priority for coaches Jim Montgomery and Scott Arniel.

The Blues will look to leverage home ice and last change to manage the Jets’ top line while generating chances through their deeper forward group. Hofer’s familiarity with the opposing roster and his solid early numbers give St. Louis a steadying presence in net. A strong start on this homestand would help the Blues climb the Central standings, while a loss would leave them searching for answers against a division rival that has had the better of the recent head-to-head series.

The first of four meetings offers an early measuring stick for both clubs as the schedule tightens in the Central Division.
